We build, operate and maintain pipeline throughout Alberta and are on-call 24 hours a day to respond to gas-odor calls and natural gas emergencies. We serve more than one million customers in nearly 300 communities. ATCO Gas is focused on customer service through the safe and reliable delivery of natural gas. We are ready to respond to customer needs and emergencies 24 hours a day. We are committed to providing customers with information to help them live and work safely around natural gas. In 2008, ATCO Gas completed a record number of installations. Capital expenditures surpassed $249 million as the company expanded and maintained its extensive natural gas delivery system consisting of more than 37,000 kilometres of pipeline to support Alberta's booming economy. More than 20,000 customers were added to the system in 2008 including homes, businesses and institutions. The growth kept distribution operators busy, as the people of ATCO Gas completed nearly 620,000 jobs at 597,961 service calls. These jobs included equipment and appliance inspections, meter installations and moves, emergency response to gas odours and carbon monoxide calls, and requests to re-light appliances – all within the lowest delivery charge in Canada.
