Are you moving into our service area?

Are you new to the ATCO Gas service territory?

First, decide how you want to buy natural gas.

New Service Lines

ATCO Gas is now offering home builders the option of applying for natural gas service lines online. The new online application system is currently available to all Calgary home builders who construct homes in four-party subdivisions. Pending its success in Calgary, the system will be launched throughout the province.

Natural Gas Service Line Application System
Guide to Natural Gas Servicing for Urban Development in Calgary

ATCO Gas can install a natural gas line to your property at any time of the year. However the best time to complete installations is before the ground freezes to avoid the risk of delays and winter construction surcharges.

Please notify us early in your planning to ensure that your building project runs smoothly. You will need to take the following steps to have a new service line and meter installed:

  1. Apply for a new service line to ATCO Gas using the Contract for Service Line Requirements and Facilities and follow all directions provided to you to ensure construction is completed in a timely manner or fill in the Service line request application form online.

  2. Contact a retailer of your choice to arrange for enrollment as soon as possible. Your retailer may require the ATCO Gas site ID. Please see below. A complete list of licensed natural gas retailers in Alberta is available at www.ucahelps.gov.ab.ca.

  3. Ensure your chosen licensed plumber provides ATCO Gas with the appropriate permit that approves the internal piping.

After all of these conditions have been met, ATCO Gas will schedule your meter installation. Please allow up to 15 working days after all of the above have been completed for meter installation and meter to be turned on. You will need to arrange initial lighting of appliances with your chosen plumber.

Site ID

Your chosen retailer may require you to provide the 13-digit site ID for the ATCO Gas service location. To obtain the site ID for your property, please contact us by email.

Gas Installation on a Farm or Acreage

ATCO Gas requires advance notice of your installation request for a farm or acreage in order to obtain the necessary utility right-of-way agreements, permits and to install your service. The 2010 application deadline for rural natural gas installation under summer rates on your property is July 31, 2010 for main extension service and September 30, 2010 for single service. The site must be ready for the gas installation. Apply early to ensure installation before freeze-up. Contact your local ATCO Gas office to obtain complete application information.
